The winds of change are blowing....
To the approximately 100 of you that regularly checkout my blog, I need your help with a little experiment. It is common knowledge that I do not like change. (As Garth from Wayne's World says, "We fear change.") After much ridicule and mean taunting, I plan to attempt AT LEAST one new thing per week for the next 52 weeks. It may be big or small, but I will make the effort and give updates at www.52newthings.com. (I also will try to read one book per week and keep you updated on that snoozer.)
Since I am allergic to change, I should not be the one selecting what I should try. It is your job. I need as many ideas/suggestions you can create. Leave them as comments, email, text, call, Facebook or whatever you need to do. Give me some real, do-able ideas or fun things to try.
Here are my first few attempts for this week:
1) Learn to knit (seriously! I got a head-start on this one over the holidays.)
2) Use the Neti Pot (another cheater start, but the results are promised to be gross.)
3) Read Good to Great (I have lied on more than one occasion about reading this book. It is time.)
-Shawn
PS - Add www.52newthings.com to your RSS reader (Google is my favorite.) The drop down on the left side is easy.

Golf....step away from the yarn and whatever else you need to knit. Seriously, let me help you get involved in a grown-up's(mans) hobby.
Ok, J...while not terribly constructive, you did give an idea. :)

I have some experience with a neti pot. A not so great experience or should I say...a snot so great experience. You might want to rethink this one.
Here's a couple of suggestions to get ya started.
1.GO to a NASCAR RACE....and invite you father-inlaw and Da too.
2. Buy a motorcyle and learn to ride like the wind....Maybe then Kathy will let me get one too.
Your Father in-law
That Pop Guy
Shawn,
I am with you on the whole "Change" thing. The only thing worse than change is being late to something! But as a friend and relative, I will try and assist:
1. Photography-wonderful way to escape the daily grind
2. Golf-nothing like a good walk in the woods
3. Elvis impersonating-great way to exercise those hips
I recommend #1 above all!
Hope this helps!!
John
I was thinking of silly things (you know the little details that would rock my world)like switch sides of the bed with H for a week
Skydiving. Derek would go with you! :-)
Just consider yourself a pre-op at this point....ok, that might be too much change....oh oh, grow some dreads???...oorrrrr, do a colon cleansing, now that will change several things about yo day!!!
1.Go a week with no internet
2.Start wearing parachute pants
3.Run backwards instead of forwards
4.Randomly mix up your kids names...if you don't already
5.Don't use humour as a shield to hide your emotional instability for at least a week.
6.Run for office
7.Eat only foods you thought you did not like for a week
8.Stop with the late night thrench coat flashing already
9.Play som squash, it isn't really fun, but you likely don't do it now
10.Send money randomly to your big brother....for no apparent reason.
Big Bro.
